I really was worried about the DW trip. When we first started discussing it, Christian said, “Look, we’ll just go there with low expectations, and figure we’re learning how to to Disney.”

“WHAT?” I said. “You want to pay $250 for ONE DAY and go in with LOW EXPECTATIONS?”

“Yes,” he said, and I thought, who are you and what did you do with my husband?

But it worked out; we just had to stay flexible. Get there early, stay late.

As for the disabilities–thanks for the word of approval. I just felt bad for the multitudes that we were breezing by. I know it would infuriate me if the positions were reversed. Maybe that says more about my own selfishness than anything else?

While I can understand your thinking that developmental disabilities aren’t in the same class as physical disabilities in terms of waiting for rides, I think that it is great that both can be accommodated. Because it is really only a little accommodation and not that much of an imposition on those who will wait in line just a bit longer. And you have to deal with so many more “little” troubles during your day that it seems like a minor nod to the increased difficulty that you face in many other ways.

It is great that you were able to enjoy your trip to DW. I’ll admit that I dread that sort of thing and I don’t even have children yet!

OMG! That was the best trip to Disney EVOR!!!! We returned with the boys when I was 13 or 14. So hard to find an appropriate attitude somewhere between teen-angst/it’s still magical/it’s not so magical- etc. But it was fun to watch the boys!

Now that I’ve seen your resort room, I’m totally down with it.

I love Disney. Our entire family has gone on multiple occasions (it helps that we used to live only an hour away and also in southern GA). We just went in early December – not quite the crowds y’all encountered during one of the busiest times of the year. I have lots of pics of our trip on my blog,
