It should not take this long.
I set out today to revise a couple of sample devotionals to send to “Living Faith.” They were already on their third major draft, and I was pretty happy with them. I figured it ought to take half an hour or so, and I’d be ready to put together the submission package. Then I could work on my novel a bit.
But I forgot something.
First, I forgot how stinking long it takes to write a cover letter. One that is sincere and doesn’t go on ad nauseam.
Second, I forgot that it is my own personal curse (or perhaps blessing): every time I hover the mouse over “send” (I did this submission by email), I feel compelled to run through the package one last time. Without fail, I find something else I can tweak to make either the letter or the submission better. Then I have to remove the attachment, fix the spot, reattach it, etc. Today it happened at least three times. So my half hour turned into almost an hour and a half.
Thank God for naps! What will I do when Alex outgrows his?
