It was really hard to get out of bed and come down this morning to write these. We stayed up too late last night, and when my alarm went off, Alex came padding in because it woke him up and he thought it was the fire alarm. Having a cuddly five-year-old snuggle up in your arms is a very nice start to the day, but makes it very hard to motivate yourself to leave the comfortable bed.

Julianna is into all things body hair lately. Get close enough to her and you’re highly likely to have to submit to having your eyebrows and eyelashes touched. (Fortunately, she’s pretty gentle. So far.) Last night while Julianna was sitting beside Daddy, she got distracted by his leg hair. She reached over and touched it, then looked up at him and signed “Ouch?”

Just to prove that Nicholas hasn’t driven me completely nuts, here’s my favorite scrapbook page that I’ve done in the last, oh, six months. ๐

(Sorry about the flash-out in the bottom right picture. That’s from the photo of the page, not the photo ON the page.)

Part of the reason Christian and I were up so late last night is that we were watching A Wrinkle in Time. Of course, we started watching it on Monday, and apparently we didn’t get as far as we thought. Christian tells me it ran pretty close to the book. Now, considering that I read this series of books less than 18 months ago, and he hasn’t read them in over a decade, I am a little put out that he has a better memory of the books than I do. What’s up with that? He reads a lot more slowly than I do, and I’m forced to confront the possibility that I actually read too fast to allow long-term retention. ๐ฆ Anyway, it was by and large a very enjoyable movie. But we were vetting it for Alex and it definitely didn’t pass muster. He’ll have to wait another two or three years.

Can I just say that I love Netflix?

I’m having my flute worked on this week, because I finally couldn’t take that tiny, pesky air leak any more. I’m excited to say that I’ve been practicing again. Not a lot, but anything is an improvement on zero, especially considering in college & grad school I averaged 3 to 3 1/2 hours EVERY DAY. But with all my history of hand troubles, I couldn’t stomach playing with that air leak anymore! So it’s at the repair shop. Going to go pick it up with my little ones today.

And then I have a whole bunch of housecleaning to do. Yee-haw. I do need to reorder how I structure days. I always think I’ll have time to do a cleaning project later, and the most amazing thing happens: I never do. Things that make you go “hmmmm….”
Have a great week!

We love Netflix too! We recently discovered one of my favorite hard-to-find childhood movies while browsing the children’s section – “The Frog Prince” (1986) starring Aileen Quinn and Helen Hunt.
Needless to say, I waxed nostalgic and was more impressed with the film than my eight year old daughter was. ๐
Now I must check out “Wrinkle In Time”… can’t believe we missed that one – another classic! ๐
Hmmm, with a cast like that I may have to check it out. I’m curious to know what she looks like without the red curls. ๐ (Aileen Quinn, I mean. I’m sure you knew that, but anyway.)
LOL Yes, my daughter just loves Annie… and I think her curiosity to see Aileen in another film was the only reason why she sat through it.
There are some really adorable songs in the film!
And I liked how they played the relationship between her and the (older) frog prince as a friendship instead of a romance.
Although perhaps in a few years, he’ll come back on his white horse to court her… ๐
Ha to #7! It’s funny how cleaning just ends up on the bottom of the list. All. The. Time. Why is that?!
We love Netflix too, but find we waste a lot of time LOOKING for a good movie to watch. We go through TONS of stuff searching for that perfect title, only to end up saying, “Well, that’d probably be okay.” Sheesh.
Have a great weekend friend!
I used to have the same problem browsing the billions of titles at the video store. hehe
With Netflix, we’ll often find diamonds in the rough after taking a chance. It’s been a blessing for this family of hermits. ๐
Housecleaning is on the list for me as well. I msut start now or this place with not be ready when baby comes.
What is it with body hair? That one made me LOL. My 3 year old asked my 80 year old grandma this week why she doesn’t have any eyebrows. That goodness my grandma loves little ones!
HA! That’s a good companion to the time I said to my grandma (she was probably 60 at the time), “But I thought you were NINETY NINE!!!” hehehehe
Ah, a Wrinkle in Time! It’s been years! Thanks for reminding me of a great book worth a re-visit. But I’ve never seen the film version….is it worth it?
Good luck with the cleaning!
It was pretty good. One scene in the middle, where they were looking at their families back home, was hopelessly forced, and far too short to be believable. But otherwise, I thought it was quite well done.
