Since last year, when I gave up blog stats for Lent, I have tried to be less obsessed with tracking hits. But I check often enough to see what subjects bring people in and which ones don’t–even when they’re silent, meaning no comments come of the visits. And I just want to say publicly how gratifying it is to see that my Down syndrome posts are getting hits. It tells me that I’m making a difference to families out there, even if I’ll never know who or how.

For the last two years, I have ended the semester by donning a cap and gown and going to the Honors Convocation at the university, where I join a platform party of dizzying credentials in order to sing the alma mater after the honorary degrees and student diplomas are given out. Usually someone in the platform party asks me what year I am. Which is flattering, considering the gray hairs. 🙂 But this year, there’s a new twist. One of the honorary degrees is being awarded to Sheryl Crow. Yes, in fact, I have to SING in front of SHERYL CROW. In two weeks.
Please God, don’t let me lose my voice.

I wish I had caught the beginning of this conversation between E. and Alex as they played outside.E: She is not Jesus!
Alex: I Knoooowww but she is his mom!
E: Yeah – well what about Joseph?

Sheryl Crow- how exciting…
I try not to look at stat numbers, but I like to see where a hit came from and it is funny to see what search words in Google gets a hit (my favorite was “what does Bill Clinton fear”- my blog, I guess)
I find the majority of your posts to be very informative Kate.
“The King’s Speech” was a great movie! It’s one I avoided because the title certainly isn’t a grabber. I liked it so much I watched it the first time by myself and then made Patti watch it with me the second time. It really communicated well the tremendous personal struggle of King George VI to overcome a monumental hurdle with the help of a very patient and compassionate commoner.
Everyone should see that movie at least once!
Thanks, Uncle Matt. I was surprised by just how good a movie it was, too. I got all weepy at the end when he was giving this big historical speech.
Hi, there! So many goodies in one little post! (I especially love the overheard bit of conversation). Sheryl Crow, The King’s Speech (I haven’t seen yet, but am dying to. We did the same thing last night with the latest Harry Potter movie so your parallels made me smile), and blog stats. Good stuff!
Keep singing, friend.
