Mama’s Boy

I always thought Alex was a mama’s boy, but Nicholas has him beat by a long shot. Heaven forbid that Grandma or Auntie should try to hold him. You’d think the world was coming to an end.

And yet when something piques his interest, he’s off like the Road Runner. Nine times out of ten, he’s a huge camera ham, but when it really counts, I can’t get him to cooperate for the camera. So we have a lot of back shots.

But the instant something startles him, or someone talks to him, (or a baby cousin gets overzealous), he comes tearing back to Mommy, and you can’t pry him off. I’m trying to be philosophical about it, but on a weekend like the last one, when we were surrounded by two and a half dozen aunts, uncles and cousins, it gets kind of wearing. Fortunately for my sanity, he’s decided he likes Daddy reasonably well, too. But he can’t seem to do without Mommy.

But you know, in the long run…I guess that’s okay with me.

What’s your motherhood (or fatherhood) moment this week?
