Alex’s Christmas letters to his grandparents (as dictated to Mommy):

Dear Grandma and Grandpa Sander,

I have been good at swim lessons. I have been throwing rocks down in the creek. It snowed yesterday, and I wanted to go sledding, but we couldn’t go because the grass was still sticking up. Today I have been eating apple cheerios. I also ate one graham cracker.

I love you!

Merry Christmas!

After that, he really got going, just in time for the second one.

Dear Grandma and Grandpa Basi,

We are coming down to see you at Christmas. I want to visit you. I was trying to find a story in my book, and Julianna was bothering me, so I pushed her down the stairs. I got in trouble.

I like apple cider. I want milk, too. I like my teachers at my church school. But I don’t like my church school. I’ve been eating lollipops that I got on Halloween.

I opened the first door on the Advent Calendar, and it told me that I was going to make Christmas cards for you!

I love you!

Merry Christmas!

Notes from Mommy: I tried *really hard* to talk him out of confessing his sins, but he was insistent. It was the biggest event of the day.

The gratitude list for the first of December:

28. Julianna’s enchanting smile

29. Julianna’s charming giggle

30. Alex’s giggle, which defies all descriptors. Seriously the best little kid giggle ever, and he cracks himself up all the time!
